Wanderburg Demo to Early Access: Progress & Save Transfer
What the March demo discussion actually says about Wanderburg save transfer, unlocks and compensation—and how to prepare without risking your save.
Quick answer
Do not count on Wanderburg demo progress carrying over. In a March 20 reply, Sdaan described transfer as unlikely; on March 26, the same account explained that additions and changes would prevent transferring progress. These are historical replies about the demo and final game, not a newly confirmed September Early Access migration policy. Save-transfer discussion
What was said about saves and compensation?
The discussion separates two questions that are easy to confuse:
| Question | What the replies establish |
|---|---|
| Can the existing demo progress transfer? | The March replies discourage expecting it, with the later reply explaining incompatibility from changes and additions. |
| Could demo progress become gold or another reward? | A player proposed this. Sdaan was receptive, but did not promise an amount, eligibility rule or implemented reward. |
| Does this mean the main game abandons the demo's core systems? | The March 26 reply explicitly clarified that this was not the intended meaning. |
None of those replies provides a supported manual save-conversion procedure. They also do not establish what happens to every individual captain, vehicle or artifact unlock at Early Access launch. Original replies and context
How to prepare without risking progress
- Keep the demo installation and its existing save data until you have checked the launch instructions. Do not delete a save just because a transfer looks unlikely.
- Treat additional demo play as practice, not guaranteed launch currency. If your only reason to grind is compensation, there is no confirmed reward schedule in the March exchange.
- At launch, check the game's official Steam announcements for instructions that explicitly name demo migration or rewards.
- If an import option is offered, follow those instructions. Do not overwrite main-game saves with demo files based on a guessed directory or a guide for another game.
Keeping a backup protects the original files; it does not make two versions compatible. Steam Cloud support likewise does not, by itself, promise demo-to-main-game conversion.
Demo, Early Access and version 1.0 are different milestones
The demo is the trial build discussed in the March thread. Early Access is the next release stage listed by Steam. A later full release is another milestone, so a reply using “final game” should not be silently relabeled as a definitive Early Access rule.
